Samhain Newsletter

Greetings,

As the veil between worlds thins and the last harvest of the year is gathered, we arrive at Samhain, the turning of the wheel that invites both remembrance and renewal. This sacred time has always been, for me, a space to pause and honor the cycles of life—what has ripened, what must be released, and what still whispers in the unseen waiting to be born.

Much of my writing is born from these very thresholds, the liminal places where the seen and unseen meet. In my Sacred Earth Trilogy, characters wrestle with love, loss, spirit, and destiny in ways that mirror our own human longing to belong to something greater. And in my nonfiction works, especially my explorations of meditation and magical practice, I write about how we too can step into these thresholds intentionally—through silence, breath, imagination, and the Divine Self that dwells within us.

Samhain reminds me of the necessity of story. Just as our ancestors told tales by firelight to guide the living and honor the dead, I believe our stories—whether whispered on a page or spoken from the heart—carry the power to heal, to anchor us, and to call us home to ourselves. My books are, in many ways, offerings on that ancestral altar, prayers stitched into words that I hope bring comfort and inspiration to you, my community.

As we cross this threshold into the darker half of the year, may you find yourself wrapped in the mystery of night and the wisdom of your own Sacred Self. Let this be a time to kindle your inner flame, to listen for the voices of your ancestors, and to dream the dreams that will guide your next becoming.

I Love You,
Aylah

Samhain Meditation

Find a quiet space where you will not be disturbed. Sit comfortably, or lie down if that feels better for your body. Close your eyes and take three slow, deep breaths, letting the exhale release the weight of the day. Feel yourself arriving fully in this sacred moment.

With each breath, imagine the world around you softening, as though you are wrapped in twilight. The air grows cooler, crisp with the energy of autumn. You sense the turning of the year, the earth settling into her rest.

Now, in your mind’s eye, see yourself walking along a forest path. Fallen leaves crunch beneath your feet, glowing gold and crimson in the fading light. Ahead, a fire burns gently in a circle of stones. This fire is the heart of Samhain, the hearth flame of ancestors and the living alike.

Step closer to the fire and feel its warmth on your skin. Around you, the veil between worlds grows thin. You may sense presences—ancestors, guides, beloved spirits—gathering with love. Allow yourself to open, to feel their nearness, and to receive their blessing. If there is someone you wish to honor, whisper their name into the flames. Watch as the fire carries your love across the veil.

Now turn your gaze inward. Ask yourself: What within me is ready to be released with this turning of the year? A habit, a fear, a grief—whatever arises, place it gently into the fire. Watch as the flames transform it into light and smoke, rising into the night sky.

Next, ask: What new seed of becoming do I carry into the dark? See this seed glowing in your hands, a promise of what you will nurture through the winter months. Hold it to your heart and let it sink deep into your being.

Take a few more breaths, feeling the warmth of the fire and the presence of love all around you. When you are ready, step back from the circle, knowing the flame still burns within. Slowly return along the forest path, bringing with you the blessing of Samhain: remembrance, release, and renewal.

Gently wiggle your fingers and toes, returning to your body in this time and place. When you are ready, open your eyes.

May you walk with the wisdom of the ancestors, the courage of release, and the hope of new beginnings. Blessed Samhain.
